GEO: visibility in AI search
More and more buyers ask an AI assistant instead of Google. I check whether your company is mentioned there and build a plan so AI answers include you, not just your competitors.

GEO (generative engine optimization) is the work of getting your company mentioned and cited by AI assistants: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI Overviews. When someone asks “which CRM suits a small business” or “who does technical SEO audits in the Baltics”, the AI gives a few names. The question is whether yours is one of them.
GEO doesn’t replace SEO. AI assistants take much of their information from the same pages that rank well in search. But they choose differently: they favour clear answers, facts, structure, and how often your company is mentioned on other trusted sites.
What I check
Whether AI mentions you now
I build a set of questions based on how your customers actually ask, and check the answers in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. I record when you’re mentioned, where, who is mentioned instead of you and whether the information about you is correct.
Which sources it cites
AI answers rely on specific pages: comparisons, directories, forums, media, competitor blogs. I compile the list of sources AI cites in your space. It shows where you need to be.
Whether AI crawlers can reach your site
I check that robots.txt or Cloudflare settings don’t block GPTBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and other crawlers, and that your content is visible without JavaScript, since most AI crawlers don’t run it.
Whether your content is easy to cite
AI quotes paragraphs that answer a question clearly and briefly. I review your key pages: is the answer at the top, are there specific facts and numbers, do headings match the questions, is schema markup in place?
What I do next
- Content changes. I rewrite, or mark for your writer, where you need clear answers, facts, comparisons and FAQs.
- Schema markup. Organisation, services, products, authors, FAQs: so AI understands correctly who you are and what you offer.
- Mentions elsewhere. A plan to appear in the sources AI already cites: directories, comparisons, media, partner sites.
- Bing and Copilot. ChatGPT search and Copilot rely on Bing’s index, so I check that the site is properly indexed in Bing Webmaster Tools.
- Measurement. Every month I rerun the same question set and track how mentions change.
Why now
AI search is still finding its feet in many markets, and in most topics AI answers cite a handful of big portals or sources from other countries. While competition is low, it’s easier for a regional company to appear in these answers than it will be in a year or two.

FAQ
How is GEO different from SEO?
SEO aims for a high position in a list of results. GEO aims for an AI assistant to mention or cite you in its answer. The foundation is the same: clear, trustworthy, well-structured content. What differs is how AI chooses its sources and how results are measured.
Can you guarantee ChatGPT will mention me?
No, and don’t trust anyone who does. AI answers change with the wording of the question, the user and the model version. I can raise the likelihood and measure how it changes over time against a fixed set of questions.
How do you measure results?
I build a set of 20–50 questions your customers would actually ask and regularly check the answers across AI assistants: whether you’re mentioned, where and which sources are cited. On top of that I track traffic from AI sources in Google Analytics.
Do I need this already?
If customers choose between several suppliers and research before buying, most likely yes. B2B, professional services, software and higher-value purchases feel it first. An initial check shows where you stand, and then you can decide whether it’s worth investing.
Will GEO hurt my SEO?
No. Most GEO work, such as clearer structure, precise answers, schema markup and mentions on trusted sites, also helps in Google search.
